Creating an Intent Flow

An Intent Flow is a conversation-driven flow that uses the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to achieve the Customer's goals. An Intent Flow can execute both text and voice chatbots.

The X‑Platform supports conversational Flows using Uniphore's U-Self Serve platform. It also supports existing Flows that use external vendor platforms via the Intelligent Assistant (IA).

  1. From the Main Toolbar, click New. A dropdown menu appears displaying the available Flow Types:

    OpenNewFlowDropdown-Intent_301121.png
  2. Click Intent Flow. The Create Intent Flow page is displayed:

    OpenNewIntentFlowDialog_270323.png
  3. In the Name field, enter a unique name for your Intent Flow. We recommend that Flow names include English characters (upper and/or lower case) and numbers (0-9) only.

  4. From the Virtual Agent dropdown list, select the select VA which will use the new Intent Flow.

    Note

When working with X-Designer versions earlier than Release 2023.3, the Virtual Agent and Intent choices are not displayed. Mapping is performed instead from the IA Domains page in the X-Console.

  5. From the Intent dropdown list, select the specific Intent that will be mapped to this Intent Flow.

  6. Click Create. The new Intent Flow is added to the File list, and the Flow Map displays the Drag Step Element prompt.

  7. Continue to define the new Intent Flow by adding new visual elements, logic elements and IA elements, as needed.

    Important

To execute properly, an Intent Flow must always end with either a Response Element or a Back to NLP Engine element.
